Ari Lessiers (talking about herself in the 3rd person) has been many things. A Pirate, a Thundercat, a My Little Pony enthusiast. She is now mostly a writer.
Ari is almost entirely nocturnal, an animal lover, a coeliac and fan-girl. She speaks fluent French. Her friends hate going to see comic-based movies with her as she ruins them.
She has lived in the DRC (Back when it was Zaire), in Mauritius and currently in London, alongside The Duck of Doom and The Pirate Rabbit.
Ari comes from a highly creative household whose walls were lined with books. She was reading at 11 months. At 8 her parents had to take Wuthering Heights away from her as she had read it 10 times in a row and they feared it might have a bad influence. She then went on to win a prize for having read every book in the school library within a year. Ari reads voraciously across all genres and can read a novel in a couple of hours.
Ari ‘told herself’ stories aloud as a small child; her mother found this faintly disturbing and encouraged her to stop, so she carried on in her mind. This became useful in maths class when she needed to look like she was paying attention. Ari excavates stories from the muses best when walking, which is why she used to pace around the unused dining room table for hours, causing her mother more concern.
After years of internalising, Ari finally wrote her first book in November during NanoWriMo, this was Destain (of the Leto Destain series). She then spent the next year writing the rest of the series consecutively for consistency and because the characters kept revealing new layers of plot in her sleep. Ari firmly believes that the story tells itself to her, and not the other way around.
She recently made a list of all the books she wants to write, it stands currently at 90 titles.
